Honoring Our Veterans
Doesn’t my dad look dashing?! He was a fashionista in his own right, especially while serving in the Army, because RED, WHITE and BLUE never go out of style!
Those beautiful, patriotic colors are the ones I intentionally wear on Veterans Day to honor our heroes:
My father never considered himself a hero, but he’s always been my hero. He passed away in 2009, just two months before I graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, after a battle with Parkinson’s disease, congestive heart failure, multiple myeloma, and amyloidosis, so I wasn’t able to take him to all of the beautiful Veterans ceremonies that are conducted in honor of veterans just like him. No matter where I am, though, I make sure to pay tribute to my hero on Veterans Day: by looking back at his photos from when he was in the Army and by wearing the colors of our flag. The colors that never go out of style: RED, WHITE and BLUE.
To all of our veterans, reservists and active military members: THANK YOU so much for your service! Todos los veteranos son muy especial para mí. De parte de está periodista fashionista: ¡Gracias por su servicio! Usaré los colores de la bandera americana en su honor.
